Product Info
Alboroque Branco 2021 is not an ordinary wine. In fact, it's anything but. This unique white wine is based on a 2001 vintage, initially conceived for the Terra Larga project in the heart of Ribatejo. Made from Fernão Pires and Arinto grapes, in almost equal parts, it began by following a classic path: the Fernão Pires fermented in barrels, the Arinto only aged. Two years later, everything went back into stainless steel… and stayed there. Waiting for the right moment.
Time was kind. The firm acidity of the Arinto and the generous body of the Fernão Pires preserved the wine perfectly. And in 2012, it was decided to let it develop a veil of flor – a natural layer of yeast that forms on the surface of the wine, just like in great Andalusian aperitif wines. It spent five years in this state, gaining complexity, saline notes, some controlled oxidation, and a striking, intense, and challenging character.
In 2017, bottling began. And today, the 2021 Alboroque reaches you with the soul of a 24-year-old, but refreshed with 10% from more recent vintages, in a solera style that gives it freshness and balance.
